NEW: Adoption Registry with Improved Features

Texas Coalition for Adoption Resources & Education™
A grass-roots organization of adult adoptees, adoptive families & biological families as well as adoption professionals, organizations & others concerned about adoption issues.

Mission:
To promote an adoption system based on honesty and trust that protects the interests of the adoptee, birth family, and adoptive family, while placing the adoptee's interests first if there is a conflict.

Vision:
To see adult adoptees have access to their original Texas birth certificates and court records and to promote improved integrity in adoption law.

We invite you to join TxCARE™  and meet with us at TX CARE-Talk.

. Go to www.TxCARE/2005 to find the 2005 Campaign to Improve Adoption in Texas. See below for results of the success we enjoyed in 2005!

Photo below was taken 9-1-05 as TxCARE President, Nancy Schaefers, Treasurer, Martha Fralia, and John, an activist from Houston, all stood outside after receiving their Original Birth Certificates due to the passage of HB240.  It went into effect 9-1-05. The new procedure, for adoptees knowing birth parents names as recorded on the certificate, is on the state web site at  http://www.dshs.state.tx.us/vs/reqproc/adoption_general.shtm

Email below was sent out by Martha 9-1-05:

"Nancy, Lea and I just returned from Austin where Nancy and I got
non-certified copies of our OBCs just by filling out the form and paying
$9 (Lea was born in Oklahoma).  To my knowledge, six adoptees showed up.
We didn't stay all day, so don't really know the exact number.  For
those of you who want to apply by mail, e-mail me privately and I will
send it as an attachment.  The normal time frame for receiving any birth
certificate by mail is 6-12 weeks.
